My junior golf career is all wrapped up. I has planned to play in the Canada Junior Championship but had to pull out due to a small injury. Nothing big, but wanted to put myself in the best shape for starting ETSU in a couple of weeks.
Can't wait to start school. Really looking forward to being a part of the ETSU Bucs!

Northern Swing
Wow, lots has happened since my last post! I competed is some fun tournaments with a top-10 at the AJGA Bishops Gate against a strong Easter weekend field and was invited to compete in the awesome Terra Cotta Invitational. I also graduated high school and received the Southwest Florida Boys Golfer Player of the Year (pic below). And I just headed up to Montreal, Canada for a 7-week visit where I will play in several events in Quebec and New England (see my schedule & results for details).

Looking forward to a great 2019
The holidays are over and I enjoyed some great time with my family, especially my sister who was visiting Florida on her first semester break from college. I am working on my winter/spring golf schedule and I should have it posted soon. I am hoping to play in some men's events along with several AJGA and Florida Junior events as I round out my junior career this summer.
Over the holidays I was nominated for Southwest Florida Area Player of the Year. The awards banquet is in May. (link to story here).

State Runner-Ups
We had a great effort in defense of our State Championship title, but came up just a bit short and finished in 2nd place. Despite slow starts for the team on both rounds, we battled back hard each day. See the Schedule & Results page for complete results.

Heading to ETSU next year!
Big day for me -- I verbally committed to play golf at East Tennessee State next year. Can't wait to be a Buccaneer. I looked at several schools and had other scholarship offers but ETSU was my #1 choice. They have a great golf tradition, super facilities, and great coaches. GO BUCS!

First High School Tourny of the new school year -- in Arizona
Our Gulf Coast Sharks team was invited to play in the Antigua High School Invitational out in Arizona (we were invited because we were State Champs last year). This was my first trip out west and my first experience with desert golf. Got to say I liked it! Our team was a little rusty since most of our practices have been rained out so far this year, but I was happy with my play shooting a 71-72 (-1) for a T-10th finish out of about 130 players. We have a really solid team again this year so hoping to make another run at States! Below is team pic and one of the top 10 medalists.

At the home of Mr. Palmer...
I had so much fun at the AJGA Jim Bell at Arnold Palmer's Bay Hill. The golf highlight was a 2nd round 68, but the real fun was staying at the Lodge and playing the course that Mr. Palmer played for most of his life. I was happy that both my Mom and Dad could come watch; below is pic of my family next to Mr. Palmer.

Super fun at Florida Junior Cup
I played in the Florida Jr Cup which is a Ryder-Cup style tournament with Florida-North taking on Florida-South. Teams were 10 boys and 6 girls. Our South team rallied for a big comeback in Singles winning or halving 14 of the 16 matches to win the Cup. It was a super fun event and got to meet some more great kids from all over Florida.

Up next - AJGA Jim Bell at Bay Hill
My next tournament is Jul 30-Aug 2 at the AJGA Jim Bell at Bay Hill. I am really looking forward to playing Bay Hill the home course of Arnold Palmer. I had to make a tough decision to miss the Canada Jr Boys Championship (where I also would have represented Team Quebec) to play at Jim Bell. Good luck to Chris, Laurent, and Logan who will represent Team Quebec!

Northeast Swing in the Books....
I just got back to Florida after 7 weeks up north. I played a lot of good golf with a win, two second place finishes, and top-6s in the other three tournaments. Based on my good results in the Quebec tournaments, I earned a spot on Team Quebec in the inter-provincial competition within the Canada Junior Championships. I will have a couple of tournaments in Florida before high school starts up again in mid-August (see my 2018 Schedule for details). Below is a pic of Team Quebec:

USGA Jr AM Qualifying....close one
Teed it up at Crumpin Fox (great course) on Wednesday and missed the playoff for the final two spots by one shot. Got off to slow start but battled back playing 2-under through my last 15 holes. It was great to see my good friend Logan Broyles from Vermont. Pic from Wednesday and an older pic from Drive Chip & Putt in 2013.....

Off to a good start up North
I just completed two tournaments over the last two weekends and played well, and am very happy that my foot is not bothering me anymore after the injury that required stitches. I lost in a 3-way playoff at the Golf Canada Quebec Championship going 4 holes deep into the playoff. This past weekend, I won the Golf Quebec Optimist tournament (see 2018 Schedule and Results for leaderboards). I am heading out tomorrow to Massachusetts for Wednesday's US Jr Am qualifier at Crumpin Fox.

Beginning my "Northeast" Swing.....
I start my summer golf season tomorrow at the Golf Canada Future Links Quebec Championship. This tourny draws the best players from Quebec and many good ones from Ontario too. I will be up north for about 6 weeks with a full schedule. Upcoming events are the Optimist International Qualifier, US Jr Am Qualifier in Massachusetts, International Junior Masters (Buffalo), and AJGA Killington (Vermont). My last tournament before heading back to Florida will be the Quebec Jr Boys Championship. See my 2018 Schedule for links to the tournaments and results.
After my winter/spring golf down in Florida, I sit #4 in the Florida Jr Tour Rankings (sandwiched around several top D1 school commits). I also am invited to the Florida Junior Cup, a North vs South Ryder Cup style tournament in July. I earned my spot by finishing #1 on the Florida South Order of Merit (Boys 16-18). I am proud of myself for adjusting to Florida really quickly, both golf and school.

Coming off an injury....
I had a bit of a freak accident 2 weeks ago where I cut the heel of my left foot bady, requiring stitches. I had to withdraw from the FJT Heritage Oaks tournament, but gave it a go last weekend at the FJT at Doral. It hadn't healed enough and I wasn't able to practice until the day before the event. Not too surprising that I didn't play well at all (and the horrible weather conditions all weekend didn't help either!). But I got the stitches out yesterday and the doctor says all is looking good. I will be able to fully prepare for my next tournament -- Golf Canada's Future Links Quebec tournament. I will be leaving for Montreal today for about 6 weeks and have a packed golf schedule.

Florida Home Stretch
The school year ends in less than a month, my first year of high school in Florida went fast! I am playing in two more Florida Junior Tour tournaments in late May and then will head to Montreal for about 6 weeks to see some friends and play in several golf tournaments in the northeast (see my 2018 Schedule for details).

Florida Jr at Brooksville
Back-to-back weekends playing in a tournament ended very well with a victory at the Florida Jr Tour at Brooksville. I was really pleased with a great start (69) followed by a "grind-it-out" kind of day on Sunday where I was 2-over through 8 holes but finished strong playing 1-under the rest of the way. I made a 7-footer for birdie on the last hole to win by a shot.
First Tournament of the New Year - AJGA at Timacuan
I started off the year at AJGA Timacuan. I was really happy to get into this great field (one of the strongest AJGA fields of the year). After a sluggish start, I finished strong with a pair of 1-under par 71s to finish the tournament T-11th.

Happy New Year
Happy New Year! I am looking forward to a great 2018. My first tournament will be the AJGA Foley Championship Jan 13-15. This is a great field and I look forward to playing against some of the best players in the country.
Over the holidays I was nominated for Southwest Florida Boys Golfer of the Year. The awards banquet is in May.

State Champs!!
Our Gulf Coast High School golf team took home the Class 3A State Championship Trophy. We were tied 4th after the first round and saved our best for day #2. We are super happy for our coach, Kim Benedict. We are the first boys team from Collier county (Naples) ever to win a state championship.

We had our first round of playoffs on Monday and our team took the District 15 title. Up next is Regionals at Lakewood Ranch next Wednesday. We are having two practice rounds before then, so we are working hard to be fully prepared!

Golf back in swing
Finally golf is back in swing following Hurricane Irma! We had to cancel most of our matches and tournaments but got back going last week. Our team won our Conference Championship yesterday. Up next is Districts, Regionals, and then State Championships. We have a great team and are having a lot of fun together. Below is a link to our Conference Championship results:

What a storm...
Wow, welcome to Southwest Florida. Hurricane Irma came right over the top of our home in Naples. Thankfully, we evacuated to Montreal two days before the storm hit. Our plans are to fly back on Sept 15. School was cancelled all week, but hope to be back next week. News from our neighbors who stayed say our home is ok, so we are very thankful for that. I hope others are fortunate as well.

We arrived in Naples last week and already started school. Really happy to be one of the Sharks at Gulf Coast High School.

Heading South....
Good news, I will be moving to Naples, Florida in August! My dad just started a new job in Naples with Arthrex, and I will be joining him after my summer golf season (Mom joins us down there a little later). I will be going to Gulf Coast High School to finish my last two years. I am so grateful to my parents for making this happen (Thanks Mom & Dad!). Can't wait to work on my game outside year round and to better prep for college golf.

Another Close Call at the Golf Quebec Optimist Qualifier
Another close one for me last weekend at the Optimist Qualifier. I finished in a 3-way tie at the end of regulation and lost in the playoff. I have a big stretch coming up; I am in Mount Kisco, NY on Thursday for a USGA Jr Am qualifier, and then I head to Buffalo, NY for the International Junior Masters, and right after that I am off to Killington, VT for an AJGA event. My game is coming into form nicely, and I feel really good heading into this big stretch!

Back-to-Back Canada Future Links in the Books.....
I just finished two Golf Canada Future Links tournaments in an 11-day stretch (and right in the middle of many school exams!). I played decent in Ontario (T-7th), but couldn't get my putter warmed up in Quebec (T-16th). I am taking a few days off from golf to focus on big exams this week, but will be ready to go in two weeks at the Optimist International Qualifier!

2017 Tourny Season is finally here!
The 2017 tournament golf season is finally here! My first tournament was the CJGA Quebec Jr Open at Hawkesbury CC. I finished in 2nd place thanks to a 69 in the 2nd round and lost on the first playoff hole. Next up -- Golf Canada Future Links Ontario Championship on May 26-28.
